Laub- und Nadelwald. Hut bis 100 mm, mit grauen Schuppen (Velum). Hutrand kaum gerieft. Stielbasis schwach knollig. Ring oberseits gerieft Sp. 8-11x6-8,5 µm. Marginalzellen ballonförmig. Eine weitere Art ist A. francheti, Ring mit braunem Rand. A. eliae hat einen gerieften Hutrand, die Marginalzellen sind mehrfach septiert umd ist Melzer nagativ
